Goals

This course deal with Network and Transport OSI layer. At the end of the course, students will have the foundation necessary to address the following points:

  • Specify, design or implement Intra AS routing protocols
  • Design specific routing protocols based on known algorithms (distance vector or link state).
  • Specify, design or implément efficient and secured network architectures using either IPv4 or IPv6.

Content

  • IP routing
    1. distance vector routing protocols (ex: RIP)
    2. Link state routing protocol (ex: OSPF)
    3. Inter AS IP routing (BGP4)
  • IPv6
  • Congestion control protocol in TCP

LABS:

    1. RIP architecture deployment on cisco routers or zebra
    2. OSPF architecture deployment on cisco routers or zebra
    3. TCP congestion study using simulator.

Prerequisites

OSI model
good MAC layer understanding.
IPv4 understanding

Tests

E1: Final Exam
CC: Labs or home work
E2: Final Exam
