From Game Development to Cybersecurity: Lada's IMESS Journey

New country, new field, new challenges: Lada, joined the IMESS Master’s program for 2024-2025. She reflects on her leap into the unknown less than a year later.
My name is Lada Egorova, I’ve obtained a bachelor degree in Russia, Saint-Petersburg in Computer Science. I was a game developer for a couple of years, and I didn't know how my life was going to change last summer. My previous studies were very different, so I decided to try something new. I applied to IMESS, and although I didn't expect much, I was accepted!

- Did you enjoy the IMESS Valence Master program?

Yes, definitely!

It’s not just studying, but also good people around, French culture and exciting memories.

Valence itself is a very quiet and peaceful place, with lots of places to walk and admire nature. You could go up into the mountains and enjoy amazing views, or catch a bus and an hour later you'll be in Lyon!

- What is your best memory in Valence?
A lot of them really. I can remember the night we went to watch the Christmas parade and the fireworks. It was the most amazing fireworks I've ever seen!

- What do you like about the master?
Various subjects, a duration (one year is of course faster than two), the très bon dishes in Crous cafeteria :-)!

- Would you recommend it to future students?
Of course, especially if you have a strong interest in embedded systems and security.

- Any advice for newcomers?
Don't hesitate to ask the school administration for help if you have questions. If you can't speak French, don't be afraid - people here will try their best to assist you!

- What is the greatest strength of this program according to you?
I think it's a great deal of practice that will be really useful in professional life.

- Can you tell us more about your final internship?
Sure! I work in the LCIS laboratory that collaborates with Grenoble INP and is located in the Esisar campus. My work is dedicated to safety-security analysis of software interactions based on project architecture.

- How do you envision your career path after completing your Master’s?
Currently, I'm focused on my internship and I'm not sure what my plans are for the future. However, I'm considering pursuing a PhD degree. These are just my thoughts at the moment.
