Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects: UGA in the top group of French universities

Ranked 19 times in the top 100, including 6 times in the top 50 of the 2020 Global Rankings of Academic Subjects of the Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) and 1st French university in 7 subjects, Université Grenoble Alpes is one of the leading French universities.
This ranking acknowledges the quality of the research carried out in UGA's laboratories, and also recognizes the effectiveness of the university clustering strategy implemented in Grenoble and at the national level, with 18 French universities making it into the world's top 50 this year.
The 2020 Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects classifies institutions according to 5 fields - Natural Sciences, Engineering, Life Sciences, Medical Sciences and Social Sciences – which are divided into 54 subjects.

ARWU uses six objective indicators to rank world universities, including the number of alumni and staff winning Nobel Prizes and Fields Medals, number of highly cited researchers selected, number of articles published in journals of Nature and Science, number of articles indexed in Science Citation Index - Expanded and Social Sciences Citation Index, and per capita performance of a university.
