First Impressions of the IMESS Master's Program 2024-25: Insights from Elena

Elena, a student from Politehnica University of Bucharest in Romania, is sharing her initial thoughts on her experience in the IMESS Master’s Program this academic year.
Hello! My name is Elena Pîndichi, and I am from Romania. I studied at Politehnica University of Bucharest, specializing in Automatic Control and Computer Science. Currently, I am pursuing a Master’s degree in Embedded Systems Security at Grenoble INP - Esisar. This is my fifth year of study, which is equivalent to a master’s level program. During my undergraduate studies, I focused on control theory, programming, and electronics, and gained some exposure to embedded systems. Before completing my degree, I decided to look for a master’s program abroad in the field of Embedded Systems. The connection between my former university and Grenoble INP - Esisar led me to explore this program. Initially, I considered joining through the Erasmus program, but after my professors encouraged me to apply directly, I was accepted.

A collaborative and engaging learning process

I am thrilled to be part of this program. The students here are friendly, and it is easy to build connections. The courses, though different from what I was used to, have been manageable, and the teaching methods are highly supportive. The professors ensure that everyone understands the material, and we often work in groups, making the learning process more collaborative and engaging. The projects are interesting yet manageable, giving us ample time to balance our studies and explore the beautiful surroundings. The hands-on approach in the lab sessions, where we apply newly learned skills, is particularly beneficial for those new to embedded systems.

A Recommendation for Future Students in Embedded Systems

Valence is a small but charming city. The location is perfect for traveling to major cities within a few hours. The fresh air and mountain views make it a pleasant place to stay. Overall, I have enjoyed my time here because I have bonded with the students, and I highly recommend this program to anyone looking to grow both academically and personally in the field of embedded systems.
