Joe, 2024 Graduate: "IMESS Master's Program – A Transformative Experience"

Joe, a graduate of the IMESS Master’s program in 2024, shares how IMESS played a pivotal role in shaping his professional journey.
"I began my academic journey as an Electrical and Electronics Engineering student at Notre-Dame University in Lebanon. After graduating, I started my professional career as an Automation and Robotics Engineer at Technica International. During my time there, I successfully led several large-scale projects for international clients such as Nestlé and Arla Foods, working in various countries across the Middle East, including the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Bahrain.

An enjoyable and impactful learning experience

Driven by my passion for delivering efficient and reliable solutions, I decided to enhance my software development skills further and specialize. This led me to pursue the International Master in Embedded Systems Security (IMESS) at Grenoble INP – Esisar, a leading engineering school renowned for its focus on innovation, technology, and industry partnerships. One of the main reasons I chose this program was its unique combination of theoretical learning and hands-on labs, particularly in the area of security. The practical approach made the learning experience both enjoyable and impactful.

Teamwork and project success: a collaborative atmosphere

I was honored to receive the IDEX Excellence Scholarship, which enabled me to focus entirely on my studies. Throughout the program, I appreciated the collaborative atmosphere, where teamwork and project success were emphasized. A standout moment during my master's journey was participating in the CSAW (Cybersecurity Awareness Week) competition, where I had the chance to connect with students from various parts of Europe.
The IMESS program also provided me with valuable professional opportunities. I secured an internship at ATOS in Paris, where I worked on automating the verification of control status registers using Bash and Python. This experience allowed me to collaborate with highly skilled professionals in a dynamic environment, further strengthening my technical and interpersonal skills.

Building on the Master’s program expertise to enhance career opportunities

Following my graduation, I continued to build on the expertise I gained during the master's program. As a Software Engineer, I contributed to securing OS partitions and automating the recording and execution of test suites. Currently, I am working as a DevOps Engineer at Koesio, where I am shaping my career toward this exciting and ever-evolving field. DevOps combines software development, automation, and continuous integration practices to streamline workflows and improve efficiency. I find this role particularly rewarding as it allows me to make a tangible impact by enhancing and standardizing application testing and deployment processes. My ultimate goal is to leverage these skills to drive innovation, optimize systems, and contribute to creating a more efficient and sustainable world.

In summary, the IMESS program was a transformative experience for me, both professionally and personally. It not only expanded my technical knowledge but also enriched my networking and collaboration skills. I am grateful for the opportunities it has provided, and I look forward to applying everything I have learned as I continue my career journey in this fascinating field”.
