Goal(s)

This course explain internet architecture and the services available to users.
Each service is studied, design, functionnalty and architecture issues.

At the end of the course, student will be have a strong knowledge of internet services and will be able to design various scale network architecture.

OSI Model:
Layer 2 : VLAN, Spanning Tree
Layer 3 & 4 : IP adressing, Network Address Translation, Introduction to routing protocols.

Internet History and architecture designs.
Name resolution protocols : DNS.
Mail architecture and Protocols : SMTP, MIME, POP, IMAP,...
File Transfert Protocols : FTP & others
Peer-To-Peer Applications
Introduction to World-Wide-Web

Unix system usage.
Programming language
Understanding of protocols.
